What Makes it Special?
The Dolphin is nothing short of an icon. It is, by far, the most popular dining destination by boat in Casco Bay, and they have the entire process down to a science. Even when they are busy, the operate like a well-oiled machine and make the process smooth and seamless.
Another little perk of the location is just how much there is for kids to do. There are trees to climb, rocks to scramble over, and a whole field to run around... all within view of the outdoor dining space.
Where are They?
The restaurant is located in Harpswell, at the tip of a peninsula called Basin Point.
Arriving by Boat.
The Dolphin has its own marina, and they offer complimentary docking for restaurant guests. You can call them on VHF 9 as you approach to get some direction, or simply pull up to the face dock and ask one of the dock hands for direction. Despite the extraordinary length of the dock, it does sometimes fill up. When it does, they will simply direct you to a mooring ball and then come pick you up with their launch.
Dining Options.
The restaurant offers lunch and dinner service. They are known for their fish chowder and lobster stew. You definitely don't want to miss out on their fresh-baked blueberry muffins, though, which are always a crowd pleaser, especially with the little ones. They do offer burger, chicken and steak options for land lovers, and they have a tidy little kids menu as well.
Seating.
The restaurant offers indoor, outdoor, and hybrid covered seating. The interior is spacious, with a massive wall of windows that allows nice views as well. On a nice day, though, you cannot beat the outdoor seating with views all around you.
