The Crown Jewel is a full service restaurant just up the island road from the dock at Diamond's Edge Marina. The restaurant is in a building that was once part of Fort McKinley, which operated as part of Maine's coastal defenses from 1873 to 1947.
The Crown Jewel really stands out when compared to many of the other Dock and Dine options in Maine because of its interesting and innovative menu.
The restaurant is located in Diamond Cove, on the northeast section of Great Diamond Island.
The Crown Jewel is adjacent to the Diamond's Edge Marina complex. The Marina offers slip space for guests dining at the restaurant with prices ranging from $10 to $100, depending on the date and the size of your boat. When you get close to the Marina, simply reach them on VHF Channel 9 to get directions on where to tie up. There is almost always someone available to catch lines and help settle you into place.
The restaurant offers lunch and dinner service. The menu is a culinary step forward from a lot of the restaurants you commonly find on the Casco Bay Islands. Hamachi Crudo, Tuna Tartare, and Grilled Octopus are some of their stars, though they do offer a Hangar Steak and a cleverly tasty Island Burger.
The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior is a charming dining room in an older, beautiful building. Their outdoor seating is limited, with a few tables set up on their deck.
